Even though Sunday night’s Emmy Awards were a weird hybrid of in-person presenters and nominees joining from home, there were plenty of gif-worthy moments.
Here are some of our favorites:
The red carpet fashion was missing, but people on social media spotted the night’s fashion winner: the Emmys award presenters wearing hazmat tuxedos.
It’s safe to say that 2020 is a literal and figurative fire. Show host Jimmy Kimmel presented an opening monologue that was really different from prior years years. It was in front of mostly empty Staples Center with a few cardboard cutouts and Jason Bateman.
And after we saw Jennifer Aniston extinguish an Emmy fire, she also gave us a surprise mini “Friends” reunion. People on social media had mixed feelings, but Bateman’s second cameo of the night had a positive response.
One of the big winners of the night? “Schitt’s Creek” took home not one, not two, not four … but seven Emmy awards. Actor Dan Levy accepted most of the awards and here are some of his best reactions to bookmark for your everyday life.
Regina King also won an award for outstanding lead actress in a limited series or movie for her role in HBO’s “Watchmen.” People on social media reacted with joy for her win and for her acceptance speech. The show won four Emmys and the show’s creators discussed politics, race and history.
Other notable moments included actor Randall Park with an alpaca — not a llama — that wore a bowtie.
A video skit of what celebs are doing during quarantine generated some more shareworthy gifs: David Spade playing Joe Exotic from “Tiger King” and Mindy Kaling’s new quarantine hobby.
RuPaul’s surprise reaction to the surprise box with the confetti and Emmy award after winning outstanding competition program.
And who didn’t love “Succession” star Sarah Snook and her DIY statuette?
And this wraps up the 2020 awards season. Tracee Ellis Ross bids this new all-video Emmys format goodbye until 2021.
